WWE NXT Review – August 12th, 2015

Greetings Cheap-Heaters! We are a mere 10 days away from Takeover. Tonight we have Finn Balor in action and a #1 Contenders Match between Bayley and Becky Lynch. Lets see what NXT has in store for us this week!

BACKSTAGE…LAST WEEK!

Regal confirms that the ladder match will take place at Takeover.

IN RING!!

Solomon Crowe is out first! Tye Dillenger is out second and is doing the “Perfect 10” routine for the first time on NXT TV! Nice. Crowd very much into it. Tye does some early offense and is very impressed with himself. Crowe starts to roll. Some nice moves from Crowe his interesting diving rolling takeout of Tye’s knees.

Dillenger ends up driving his knee into Crowes face. WHOA! Dillenger gets the win! I didn’t see that coming. I dig it, though. Really happy with that finish. I enjoy the hell out of Dillenger, and am not much of a Crowe fan.

IN RING!!

Baron Corbin is out. Someone is gonna have a bad time. Which he does. End of Days. Baron cuts a promo about needing more of a challenge. Dude runs out from the back. Another End of Days to that guy. Corbin screams “NOBODY GETS UP FROM THE END OF DAYS… I DON’T CARE WHO YOU ARE!” Out comes Samoa Joe. Joe says Corbin is impressive… oozing with sarcasm. Says he won’t be doing that to him. Corbin begs to differ. Joe says why don’t you try to do it right now. Corbin says he can’t. He just fought two guys. He says “We can do this… just not… right… now.” then attacks Joe! He looks to hit Joe with the End of Days, but Joe locks in the choke! Joe choke’s Corbin out. Full Sail chants “THANK YOU JOE!”

GYM!!

BULL… FIT! BULL… FIT!

BACKSTAGE!!

Tyler Breeze talks about his match with Liger. Says he’ll be the face of the Rising Sun.

IN RING!!

Finn Balor on his way to fight Marcus Louis. That hair goop Enzo and Cass cooked up really was effective! Feels like a long time since we’ve seen Finn! Start off withs one mat wrestling. They exchange strikes in the corner, but then Marcus spikes Finn with a chokeslam. Balor hits the sling blade. High speed dropkick into the corner. Coup De Grace. Basically an extended squash.

Fun to watch Full Sail hit the arm poses to Finn’s music, even when Finn isn’t doing them. Post match as Finn celebrates? Owens attacks. Owens looking for the apron power bomb. Balor gets out of dodge. Hits some offense on Finn. Hits a kind of Pop Up Powerbomb on Finn. Grabs the NXT Championship and hits Finn’s pose standing over him. Steps on Finn to leave the ring. Kevin Owens is such a magnificent prick.

BACKSTAGE!!

Vaudevillains asked about taking care of the “Bliss Factor”. Bliss comes in oozing that Bliss Factor saying “You two big strong men need someone to take care of little old me?!” Then slaps both English and Gotch. Walks off.

HYPE!!

Apollo Crews (Formerly Uhaa Nation) gets a nice hype video. He debuts at Takeover! They follow that up with break down of the Takeover card.

IN RING!!

Sasha Banks is out to do guest commentary. Bayley is out first. Ad break before Becky’s entrance. Lot of crowd support for both of these women. Standing and mat grappling to start. Sasha heeling it up hard at the commentary table. They are trading early on. Story is Becky really working the left arm of Bayley. Bayley fighting valiently and battling back. She survives the Disarm-Her. They continue to battle and Bayley hits a surprise roll up for a three count!

Very good match between these two. Predictable on a few levels. Most notably, Triple H saying Bayley and Becky Lynch would be fighting in Brooklyn… but still enjoying this rise of Bayley towards her one on one with Sasha Banks. Has a very Sami Zayn vibe to it. They close the show with Sasha standing on the announce table with the NXT Women’s Championship over her head. Bayley on the middle rope. The two staring down and jacking jaws!

TOO LONG! DIDN’T READ?!

I didn’t break it down as thoroughly as I have in the past. Real world stuff happened while watching. Ultimately this really got us close to having the bow completely tied on Takeover. We’ve added Joe vs. Corbin. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley was finally done on TV. The card is six matches strong. Do they squeeze in a seventh next week? Probably not. Even with the relative quickness that I’m thinking Apollo Crews’ debut and Joe/Corbin get wrapped up in. The NXT and Women’s championship matches should each get close to, or over, 20 minutes. Next week we’ll see if there are any further bells and whistles in store for NXT’s Brooklyn (Full Sail boos and weeps).

We’ll see you in seven!
