WWE NXT Review – June 10th, 2015

Greetings and salutations, Cheap-Heaters. Welcome to another recap and review of NXT. I saw a match listing for tonight's show. It was six matches strong (I'm predicting a pile of squashes… lets se, shall we?)

HYPE!

There's this fella named Samoa Joe. His in ring debut is tonight!

IN RING!

Zack Ryder's Music hits. Well there is Ryder. His partner is Mojo Rawley. Full Sail is excited for the WOO WOO WOO and Stay Hype connection. They're wrestling Elias Sampson and Mike Rallis. Mojo is insanity. Fifty percent of his offense was taunting and yelling at his opponents. The guys who got no entrance (Working tag team name) – start to work over Ryder a bit. Crowd chants "get hype". There is a whole row of "Stay Hype" t-shirts. They're all standing. (DOWN IN FRONT!) Mojo gets the hot tag. They hit a nice double team. Mojo with a power bomb and Ryder with a top rope Rough Ryder.

OVERVIEW!

I'm okay with this tag team if that's the long term plan. Could be fun. Lots of fun. Finisher was sweet. Totally predictable. Probably around 5 minutes. I'm not a big Mojo fan, but I think a tag team could be a good spot for him. Anything they could do to make Ryder relevant again is okay in my book too.

HYPE!

Finn Balor in a suit talking about having two sides. So it flashes between him in a suit and in full demon paint. Pretty nifty. Hypes his match in Tokyo.

HYPE!

Dana Brooke is calling herself "THE Total Diva". Little hype piece for her.

IN RING!

Emma's music has been remixed. Same opening, and then goes into something a little harder and guitar driven. And then we hear Enzo and Cass's acapella Price is Right blue pants theme. Out comes Ole Blue Pants to a HUGE reaction. Crowd chants "Happy Birthday" at Blue Pants. Blue Pants wants to do the Emma Dance, but Emma is not down. Crazy how much Full Sail loves OBP. (Now I want to hear Full Sail echo chant "YOU DOWN WITH O.B.P. … YEAH YOU KNOW ME!") – Emma beats Blue Pants, BP gets a couple near falls with roll ups. Then Emma Nearly takes BP's head off with a clothesline. Blue Plants makes a little comeback with a series of kicks, but Emma ends up locking in the Emma Lock. Blue Pants taps.

OVERVIEW!

Decent match. Amazes me how over Blue Pants is. Be interesting if they'd decide to give her a little more success, or she'll forever be enhancement talent. Fixing Emma continues to go well.

BACKSTAGE!

Carmella, Enzo, and Cass are all talking at the same time. Devon says next week we'll get a six person mixed tag match. These three versus Blake, Murphy, and Bliss.

IN RING!

Bull Dempsey and Tyler Breeze is next. Little sloppy start here. Also different too because this will be the second match in a row where Breeze is going to be, sort of, kind of, the face in this match. Already Bull is "wearing Breeze down". Tyler gets leveled, Bull goes up top, but Tyler decides to run. Bull Needs to slow down and catch his breath. Crowd chants "CAR. DI. O!" Breeze runs more. Bull chases and keeps getting tired. Breeze grabs Bull, rolls him in the ring. Beauty Shot, and that's that.

OVERVIEW!

Another predictable match. I was amused by Tyler' tactics here, but also felt it was silly, and wonder if there is a purpose for it.

HYPE!

They go back to Unstoppable to show the post match reaction from Full Sail for Becky Lynch. Was a special moment. Also, Becky Lynch in action, NEXT.

IN RING!

Becky Lynch gets an entrance. Her opponent, JESSE, is already in the ring. (If you don't have a ring entrance?

Becky on fire. Crowd all into her. Jesse having a nice showing. Holding her own a bit. Even taunting Becky. I enjoy that snap suplex Becky does where she reaches behind her opponent to get an almost hammerlock. Becky hits a different signature move, that was unique. Floats over and locks in the arm bar. Which they call the "Disgoostin' Armbar".

OVERVIEW!

Another super predictable match. Probably a little more offense for Jesse than I would have imagined. I also hope the "Disgoostin' Armbar" is NOT the name they go with.

BACKSTAGE!

Regal talks about Joe's debut. Says Owens will do commentary, and then we hear crunching. Bull Dempsey comes in eating Doritos. Bull makes excuses for how that match went. Saying he was training all night. Regal isn't buying it and tells Bull to get his act together.

BACKSTAGE!

Jason Jordan talks about having a new tag team partner. In watches Chad Gable. Jordan is like "no, its NOT YOU!" Gable says whenever Jordan realizes Chad should be his partner, he'll be "Ready…Willing… and Gable!" Definitely a bit of an Angle vibe with Gable's goofiness.

IN RING!

Baron Corbin is on his way out. His opponent is in the ring. (Easier to get 6 matches in an hour show with only having to do half the entrances!) – Corbin wrestling Angelo Dawkins. Crowd counts, but this one isn't going to be a Corbin Squash. Baron being super violent. Dawkins tries to rally, but eats a clothesline and the End of Days.

OVERVIEW!

Wasn't as negative a crowd reaction as Corbin has been getting recently. Big powerhouse slobber knocking type moves. Now getting more and more cocky. Announcers really getting after "WHO CAN STOP CORBIN".

IN RING!

JOE! JOE! JOE! JOE! We come back from break and Owens has his arm around Byron Saxton. Joe's… awful… awful… AW. FUL! (did I say it was awful?) Entrance music hits. His opponent ? Is in the ring. That opponent, Scott Dawson. Crowd chanting "Joe's gonna kill you", and "PLEASE DON'T DIE!" Dawson has already gotten more moves in than I imagined. He tries a vertical suplex… it doesn't go well. Owens continuously comparing the things Joe does to the things he does. Joe hits the corner STO. Hits the Muscle Buster. Gets a nice win. Unfortunately Joe winning means we have to hear his music again.

Post Match Joe gets a mic and shrieks "KEVIN OWENS". Tells Owens he runs. Owens answers "I really don't RUN ANYWHERE". LOL! Owens then says Joe is a ROOKIE, and you don't get a NXT Title match after one match. (Owens delivery is great there, he has a career in standup.) – Owens says Joe has to earn a title match, and Regal's music hits. Regal agrees, Joe has to EARN a title shot, but not a fight . So? NEXT WEEK… JOE. OWENS. BOOM! Owens not so happy as he struts past regal giving him the stink eye (SHOULDNA HEAD BUTTED YOUR BOSS KEVIN!) – Joe is most pleased… and sweaty… but mostly pleased in the ring.

OVERVIEW!

Match was what it was and what I thought it'd be. Joe gets established in a NXT Ring. Gets his first win. Owens and he continue their feud, and we get their first match next week? Excellent.

TOO LONG! DIDN'T READ?!

Not often do I say if you're going to skip an episode of NXT, this is one where you won't really miss anything. Six squashes is a bit much. Everything was predictable in ring. It wasn't BAD, but this was basically about Joe's in ring debut. Furthered some stories. Not a bad show, but also totally skippable if you don't feel the need to see Joe's debut.

I'll see you 7!
