The Iron Side of the Stories (June 16th, 2015)

New week. New Iron Side of the Stories. Every week, I run down some of the notable events in wrestling for that particular week, and I give my thoughts. Let’s get to it:

Sheamus Wins The Money In The Bank Ladder Match:

A lot of people were caught off guard by The Celtic Warrior’s victory in the annual career altering Ladder match, myself included. I thought that Roman Reigns would have been a good candidate for Mr. Money In The Bank. In the end, Sheamus was the man to reach up and grab the briefcase, last knocking off Neville from atop the ladder.

So, why did Sheamus win MitB? As dumb as this may sound, one of the reasons could be based on the fact that Sheamus landed the role of Rocksteady in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2,” starring mega babe Megan Fox. TMNT 2 will surely be a hit when it hits movie theaters next year, and perhaps WWE is hoping to capitalize on the mainstream attention that Sheamus and, in turn, WWE could get from it. Could the big Irish man be the next Dwayne Johnson…?

Kevin Owens Versus John Cena II:

It could be argued that Kevin Owens versus John Cena stole the show two weeks ago at the Elimination Chamber special. The same could be argued about the rematch at Money In The Bank Sunday night. I’ve said it before, and I have absolutely no problem saying it again:

John Cena is a great wrestler.

Not only is he a great wrestler, but he’s a wrestler that’s not afraid to stray away from his comfort zone and try new things. On top of newer maneuvers like hid hurracarana and Springboard Stunner, Cena ended up hitting a Code Red sunset bomb. It didn’t look too pretty, but he hit it, and it looked better than the one Trevor Murdoch tried to do for a few weeks back in like 2007 (remember that?). Give the man credit for trying.

Owens lost, and the pother match power bomb on the ring apron assured us that we’ll be seeing at least one more Owens/Cena bout.

I just pray Cena finally busts out a Reverse-Rana…

P.S… Owens powerbombing Machine Gun Kelly on Raw ruled.

Dusty Rhodes WWE Network Documentary:

The 60 minute special ran immediately following Raw on Monday, and featured interviews from some of the people that were the closest to “The American Dream.” If you don’t teary eyed listening to Ric Flair talking about one of his greatest rivals, you might not have a soul. If you didn’t watch it when it aired, go and watch it now. You will not regret it.

The Bella Twins:

Are they good gals or bad gals? Serious question, I’m not sure.

Dean Ambrose “Hard Times” Tribute To Dusty Rhodes:

After an incredible Ladder match for the WWE Championship, pitting Champion Seth Rollins against Cincinnati native Dean Ambrose, “The Lunatic Fringe” cut a promo post match that was reminiscent of The American Dream’s infamous 1985 “Hard Times” interview.

Was this interview inspired by Dusty? You be the judge:

That’s it for today. I’ll be back Thursday with another new article. See ya then!
