Anonymous WWE Star Speaks His Mind On Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and His Return to the WWE – Harsh Words
With The Rock making his much anticipated return to Raw next Monday, John Cena had harsh words for “The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment” on this week’s show, saying he’s no longer The People’s Champion, but he’s a champion with people (referring to the entourage around him). After strongly criticizing The Rock for returning, but not sticking around WWE, Cena vowed to beat the iconic grappler in his hometown of Miami, Florida at WrestleMania XXVIII.
A number of WWE performers appeared giddy backstage over Cena’s remarks as they legitimately feel that way over the actor/wrestler. One talent commented via text to PWInsider.com (with permission to be quoted under the condition of anonymity): “[The Rock] comes in to use WWE to get back the audience he lost doing Disney movies, which is fine but he’s been back over a year and name one person he helped make a bigger star since then? No one.
“He’s here for himself, he keeps to himself, and he keeps someone who’s actually touring here all year from making a bigger payday at the bigger shows. It’s all about making this the “biggest” Mania of all time. OK, then what do we do the rest of the year? Who’s been made? You think he took ANY blame for Survivor [Series] not drawing? Of course not, but how do you feud with a guy on the Titantron? Cena nailed the guy dead on tonight.
“Say anything about HHH, Taker, etc. still being in the top spot but if they were needed to work the road, they would and they would still work their asses off as much as they needed to. Rock is out for Rock and the idea he’s here to better anything but his own wallet is the biggest work of 2012.”

The Rock doesn’t really have any control over the story line, what people have wanted to see is The Rock v John Cena but you can’t blame The Rock for the fact that the biggest WWE superstar of the past decade John Cena doesn’t even measure up to the great one and has been booed out of every arena since The Rocks return. The Rocks job was to get the main event match at Wrestlemania as over as possible by labelling it the biggest match in WWE history. Perhaps the locker room should look at CM Punk or Zak Ryder who have gotten over by their own hard work instead of expecting others to do it for them.

I’m a Rock fan from back when he first started. I thing he’s funny, charismatic and a great athlete. I also know that he’s the biggest Diva going into Wrestlemania. It’s a true statement that he hasn’t put anyone over since his ‘return’ to wrestling. It’s blatant that he’s out for himself only. The Rock was making his $35 million dollars last year. The only reason Cena is still in the WWE is because The Marine and 12 Rounds were box office flops. Uh, yaeh, someone did put the Rock over. A certain Hulk Hogan wrestled the Rock at WM to put him over and pass the torch. Rock commented how nervous he was with Hogan and how grateful he was to him. I guess Rock forgot where he came from and who helped him out. As far as Cena goes, how many Make a wish dreams has rock done, by last count, Cena has done 300.
The Rock didn’t need to be “over” by the time he wrestled Hulk Hogan. At the time of their match, the Rock had HUGE pop. And people would tune in just to see him clipping his toenails.
The sad thing was that people wanted to see Hulk Hogan “Hulk up” one last time and beat the Rock. That would’ve hurt the product. Hogan was a shell of a shell of his former self, with less strength and limited mobility. So it would’ve HURT the WWE to have the Rock lose to him.
But Rock was barely 40 by the time he wrestled Cena, in what appears to be in the prime of his life, still posessing great power and mobility. For the sake of all fandom, the Rock should have won that match, and it’s reasonable for him to do so.
But NOW THAT HE’S WON, the Rock and the WWE can survive having the Rock lose to John Cena. But now, Cena needs to step up his game or move over and let CM Punk have his shot with the Rock. I think he’s due it.

i dont think anyone of us can argue with the comment left by this anonymous wrestler as he/she is speaking from an insider’s point of view unless the person arguing is a wrestler from that locker room…im a fan of the attitude era of wrestling and loved the rock wen he was at his prime and wen he was a dedicated wrestler that represented the wwf the way a champ should. however, i do agree with the anonymous wrestler about the rock being selfish and not helping put any wrestler over. not everyone can do it on their own and that’s not a flaw or lack of talent. the wwe is bigger now than it used to be and its much more competitive. some talented wrestlers are being overlooked and can use some help from the already made wrestlers and a talent like the rock can help shine anyone let alone a worthy wrestler, so i do blame the rock for taking the biggest spot on the biggest show and making a selfish comeback in that fashion. he would’ve been more appreciated, respected and loved by everyone including the locker room if he dedicated that one year of the comeback to being a full time wrestler. im sure he’s made enough money and fame that taking a year off to go back to his birthplace wouldn’t have hurt his popularity or his wallet. dedicating the year to being a full time wrestler and building up his fight against cena by climbing up the ladder to the championship would’ve showed respect to the locker room by showing that no one is above hard work and just because you were the top of the top at ur time, means you can comeback and claim the top spot at any other time. it would’ve also shown the fans (especially the ones from the attitude era that were anxiously awaiting the rock’s return) some appreciation and wouldve been a better thank you from the rock.

Honestly, who in the back that isn’t already main eventing does he need to put over. There are very few people in the back that are even on the level that he is that deserve him putting them over. Even with his long hiatus from the ring he still worked the ring better than the majority of the people that tour all year long. I have been reading up on Cena’s displeasure with the Rock and the locker room crap for a while now and its nothing more than pure jealosy, plain and simple. first of all, Wrestling is not real which means all the accustations about the Rock having poor sportsmanship is B.S. What Cena needs to get through is childish mind Is the Rock was not hired to be one of the boys, neither was he hired to set an exmple or to play well with others. The Rock is what he is and he was hired to be exactly that, a mega superstar slash entertainer whose real duty is to be give the WWE a hollywood type star. Wrestlers are complaining that he didn’t put them over, which I take to mean as help to get famous, but who helped the Rock??? The Rock started out as an unpopular wrestler, until he changed his image and people started to love him. That’s what these wrestler’s need to do as well instead of complaining about it. His new image is what helped build his brand and become a incredibly popular wrestler, which helped him transition into movies. I stopped watching wrestling years ago, but it seems as if the Rock is still a bigger draw than most wrestlers today, which is their fault not his. And if he is a bigger draw, he brings in more money than these lesser known names. At the end of the day, I don’t know if this a real feud or not because it is wrestling and they are almost always in character, BUT if it is, these wrestlers really need to get over it. How many wrestlers are there currently and only very few make it to become incredibly popular like the Rock has. You have Hulk Hogan and a few other wrestlers, but it’s really up to the wrestler to find a way to build popularity rather than depending on others and the storyline.
I agree generally, but not quite accurate. The Rock (D. Johnson) is the son of the sold man Rocky Johnson and the son-n-law of that great Samoan wrestle (google-it; forgot his name). His mother was also in the sport along with his uncle. That Samoan family was quite visible and famous. They used to wrestling at the Cow Palas in SF Cal. in the 70′s. Yes I’m that old, I used to watch them as a kid on channel 20 in black and white. He (the Rock) and his family has paid more than there fare share of dues. They help build this industry. So what ever glory he get now (popularity + big paydays) only pales in comparison to the sacrifice his family has paid. From the 70′s- 90′s there were no BIG TIME contracts or payday. As far as Mr. Cena (I would suggest that if you want be a great champion, then show leadership, accept that this guy is popular and work on your on craft to be better) nobody likes a whiner. He is making good money and jealously only makes him look like a little person. Hate the game not he person (as they say) As far as the other guys in the locker room: Grow up, stop complaining, work on your craft and be ready when you shot comes. everybody starts from the bottom and you have to dedicated and work your way to the top and build your own following. Its a hell of a lot easier these days than when Rock started and was touring.
all i know is that whoever this annonoumus superstar is he/she is a hater big time you cant get mad at the greatest superstar of all time the rock for making it to the top and how dare you call the rock selfish. ok so since when you were suppose to move to the side and let others get ahead of you? theres a superstar right now named ummm let me see o yeah cm punk and he is the most selfish guy in the wwe right now but yet people still love him. so to all you that agree with this unknown superstar start watching documentries such as stone cold, triple h, and other great legends and u see for yourself how “selfish” they were just like the great one

The world loves to complain……The Rock made a few people famous when he returned because people actully joined there 11 year old to watch wrestling again……if the rock wins the belt vs punk wwe will be something to see if he doesnt it will be a wasted channel on my tv. i used to love wrestling they always draw me back with a old school great then it turns into shit all over again best wrestler to carry the tide of the new age was edge and hes gone now so i see no hope other then the Rock

This article is sad. Vince decides the storylines, if he wanted The Rock to get someone over, that would be the storyline. Wrestlers don’t decide that. I’ve watched wrestling since the days of Gorilla & Bobby. There are ebbs & flows. This is definitely an ebb, & The Rock is helping out the company that made him a star. When CM Punk is the biggest thing you have, there’s a big problem.

Um…..wrestling doesn’t draw the crowds like they used to because of MMA. It’s hard to believe that it’s even still watched. I think WWE is dying a slow death…..not their fault, but when you have real fighting, it’s hard to go back to staged, fake fighting……sorry WWE.
Wrestling has alienated the families for years… over sexualized plots and characters have kept the next generation of fans away…
I am not a wrestling fan in no way. However, Rock put wrestling back on the map. And wrestling put him on the radar for Hollywood, and he took advantage of the opportunity. So perhaps he’s returning to the WWE as a favor to McMahaon, to try and revitalize a business that gave him his start. And I don’t buy the “anonymous talent” one bit. Sounds like a wrestling blogger taking Cena’s comments a tad further to create conflict.

Here is how the fight will go down: If the Rock doesn’t have another hernia, it will seem as though Cena is going to win, then at the end, Rock will turn the tide and win the fight because he is in his hometown and this is FAKE anyway. I don’t even watch the crap.
