NEW CHAMPS COMPETE IN PHILLY AND BROOKLYN!
New Champs Crowned at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s “Dominion”
New Japan Pro Wrestling presented their annual “Dominion” event on July 5th in Osaka, Japan and crowned three new champions, two of which ROH fans will get to see in Philadelphia on August 21st and at Field of Honor in Brooklyn, NY on August 22nd.
Congratulations to Kazuchika Okada for winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship for the third time in his career. Okada unseated “Bullet Club’s” AJ Styles to capture the crown in a match many say is a “Match of the Year” candidate and congratulations to KUSHIDA beating Kenny Omega to win the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
It was not all bad news for “Bullet Club” at “Dominion” as “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows regained the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship from “The Kingdom’s” Michael Bennett and Matt Taven and the Young Bucks outlasted RPG Vice and reDRagon to retain the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team titles.
Okada’s win over AJ Styles means that the IWGP Heavyweight Champion will be in Philadelphia on August 21st and at Field of Honor on August 22nd. Already a huge star, Okada now walks into these hot summer nights on the “Aftershock” tour with an even bigger target on his as the IWGP Heavyweight Champion for the third time in his career.
KUSHIDA, the new IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion will be part of these stacked cards as will Shinsuke Nakamura and both look to continue their winning ways in their return to Ring of Honor. Look for more match announcements to come right here at ROHWrestling.com.
