PART 2: IN DEPTH…

What Motivates you?

That’s an interesting question and I have never really thought about it properly. I’ve always enjoyed performing and getting a reaction. Pro Wrestling gives you the ability to be somebody else and portray a character that can toy with an audiences emotions. I get a kick out of that. It also gives me a reason to go to the gym!

Who inspires you?

I grew up, like most wrestling fans a huge ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin fan. I was drawn to his intensity and badass attitude. As a kid I suppose I was the opposite to that, so it gave me someone to look up to and be in awe of. Now I’m a little older inspiration can come from anyone in any walks of life.

What has been your favourite program or match?

One of my most recent matches against ‘Powerhouse’ T-Rex stands out to me due to the story and emotion involved. It was his debut in his hometown and I came in as the English villain. It was my first big match as my new heel persona the ‘Hooligan’ that I have been working on for some time. Everything seemed to fall into place for that one and it was a lot of fun.

Who has been your favourite opponent?

I cannot name one as there are so many that have helped me grow and learn over the years. You have certain people you gel with better than others but I’ve been lucky to work with a lot of talented people.

What pre show/pre match rituals?

Nothing ground breaking. I just like to get ready on my own and envision how I think the match will go. I stretch – a lot and make sure I’m relaxed before I go out.

What 5 items do you always pack in your bag when wrestling?

1) Football Boots
2) Wrist Tape
3) USB with Music
4) Promo Photos
5) Gear

What do you do to wind down and relax?

It sounds weird but to me the gym is a great way to unwind and be with your thoughts. I’m often mistaken for being a social lad due to my outgoing personality but I actually really like nights on my own just watching Wrestling and chilling out.

What one thing would you like to achieve?

To be a good person.

What has been your proudest moment in the wrestling business?

My Dad was never a wrestling fan and he has no idea how I got into it. But you know when you watch it at home and your Dad kind of watches it in the background and will know who a few of the guys are? I was lucky to be teamed up with Scotty 2 Hotty in the UK and I will always remember the look on my Dad’s face when he found out I was going to be teaming with him! He came to the show and brought some of his mates, I think up until that point he always thought it was just a weird hobby I had. He treated it a little different after that.

What have you been up wrestling wise since you have moved from the UK and relocated to New Zealand? What is the scene like there?

The scene is a lot smaller over here! There are only a few promotions spread across 2 Islands. I knew that coming over here but I have always wanted to travel and live in a different country so I did not want Wrestling to get in the way of other life experiences. I love it here and would not move for anything, even if the WWE came calling!
